New Tea Quant License Applies to version 0.6.0 and later.
Copyright holder: Garnet Xin
This file is the license for New Tea Quant (NTQ) from version 0.6.0 onward. It is not the Apache License. Do not call it Apache-2.0 or Apache License 2.0.
1. Non-commercial use
Personal learning, personal research, academic use, and a person running backtests or scans for their own account are non-commercial.
For non-commercial use only, the terms of the Apache License, Version 2.0 reproduced below apply. Where those terms say "the License", read them as this non-commercial grant, not as a grant of commercial use.
2. Commercial use
Commercial use needs a separate written license from the copyright holder before that use starts. Commercial use includes a company or other organization using the software in its business, and offering the software or a service built on it to others for a fee.
Ask for that license at https://new-tea.cn/zh-hans/contact
3. Website and hosted services
This license covers the software only. It does not grant an account, a quota, data, or any right to new-tea.cn or its successor. The website's own terms and the credential a caller holds decide whether a call is accepted.
The clients that call new-tea.cn are the module core/modules/ntq_external. Before any commercial use, remove that module. A later written commercial license applies this duty unless that license says otherwise. Tests and docs that exist only for that module go with it.
The module contains:
- conf/endpoints.py — the member-AI, feedback, and usage-report URLs, and the contact-page URL shown by the feedback client
- ai/ — member AI. When a membership token is present, chat and the quota request go to the website. The token file stays at userspace/system/membership/membership_token.txt. core/infra/membership/ only reads and writes that file. It does not call the website
- feedback/ — a thumbs rating and optional short text posted to the website
- track/ — registers the usage-report URL with core/infra/trace. Install reports are sent without a separate usage-stats choice. core/infra/trace does not contain the website URL. After this module is removed, Trace.track does not send
After the module is removed, the assistant uses only a key configured by the user. Strategy, tag, and install code may still call Trace.track. That call does not reach the website.
The UI is a separate bundle. Removing the module does not remove pages. Before commercial use, also remove or replace the screens that offer these hosted services: membership, feedback, and usage stats in settings; the feedback prompt; and the member-register link in the assistant. Then rebuild core/ui/fed. The bundle in core/ui/fed/build/ repeats those screens and is not a second source.
3.1 Links that are not clients
The files below only open pages. Commercial use does not require every such string to be deleted. It does require that your product not send its users to these pages as its registration, support, contact, or data-download channel, and that it not present itself as official NTQ.
- core/ui/fed/src/views/appNav/appNav.js Contact link https://new-tea.cn/zh-hans/contact?from=ntq_app.
- core/ui/fed/src/pages/welcomePage/welcomePage.js Documentation links under https://new-tea.cn/zh-hans/.
- README.md and README_en.md Member download, contact, and tutorial links. The larger data pack is not downloaded by code; those files tell the user to fetch it from the member page.
- docs/README.md
- core/modules/assistant/context/know_how/configure_ai_key.md
There is no other built-in client in this repository that calls new-tea.cn. If you add one, it is covered by this section.
4. Research tool, not an investment decision
NTQ is a strategy research tool. It does not decide, recommend, or advise any investment. Nothing the software shows — a scan, a backtest, a report, a score, or a chart — is an investment decision or an offer to buy or sell any security, futures contract, fund, or other financial product.
Every strategy shipped with NTQ is a demonstration. Every dataset shipped with NTQ, including the demo pack and any sample series, is a demonstration. They show how the tool works. They are not a suggestion to trade, and they are not a promise of any result.
You alone decide whether to invest, what to invest in, and when. The copyright holder and contributors are not responsible for any investment action you take, or for any gain or loss that follows, even if you used NTQ while making that decision.
5. Usage reports
NTQ may send anonymous usage reports to the copyright holder's service. They show how the tool is used and where it fails, so the software can be improved. They are not an investment decision, and they are not a record of what you trade.
Reports of how you use the software are sent only after you agree. You can turn them off at any time. Turning them off stops later reports of that kind and drops reports still waiting on the machine. A launch setting on that machine can force reports on or off. The default is off until you agree, except for the install report below.
The install report is sent while NTQ is being installed, including when you have not been asked yet, and including when you later decline. It exists so a failed install can still be seen.
NTQ does not collect strategy source, parameter text, scan or backtest detail, universe contents, positions, orders, or trade records. It does not collect your name, email, account, password, token, API key, IP address, or hostname. A report may still carry the name of a strategy or tag you ran, and the text of a CLI run command, as described below.
Each report may include an anonymous installation id created on that machine, the operating system, CPU architecture, Python version, NTQ version, CPU count, memory size, disk type, and database engine.
5.1 Install
- time spent on the install and on each step, and which steps were skipped
- whether the install succeeded
- a failure class, the exception type, and a shortened failure message with home and project paths removed
- names of tables that failed to import
5.2 After you agree
- which entry started the app: the UI, the user CLI, or the dev CLI. A strategy or tag run on the user CLI may include the command line
- that you turned usage reports on or off, and where you did that
- that a strategy or tag run finished: its key, its mode, whether it succeeded, elapsed time, how many entities it covered, and a performance shape such as job count, parallelism, time share across stages, or capital-utilization percentages. Not the profit or loss, and not the strategy contents
- how often you open parts of the UI, such as which entry you use. This version does not send it. When it is added, this section still applies
- errors the software itself raises. This version does not send them. When they are added, this section still applies
The client that sends these reports is listed in section 3.3.
6. Earlier versions
Copies of versions through 0.5.x that were already distributed under the Apache License 2.0 stay under that license. This file does not take those grants back.
The Apache License, Version 2.0, follows. It applies only to the non-commercial grant in section 1 above.

"Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work (an example is provided in the Appendix below).
"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of, the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted" means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems, and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."
"Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and subsequently incorporated within the Work.
- Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.
- Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made, use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work, where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s) with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You institute patent litigation against any entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You meet the following conditions:
(a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or Derivative Works a copy of this License; and (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices stating that You changed the files; and (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and attribution notices from the Source form of the Work, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works; and (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or, within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed as modifying the License. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and may provide additional or different license terms and conditions for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use, reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with the conditions stated in this License.
- Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise, any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of this License, without any additional terms or conditions. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed with Licensor regarding such Contributions.
- Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
- Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.
- Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory, whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise, unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill, work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer, and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
